1. The wild Fluffy:
“When I was about 8 years old, my dog followed my father to wait for my school bus with me. While they were waiting, my father saw Fluffy being hit by a truck, so he took him and buried him. We then left the city for the weekend. But on Sunday evening, when we got home, Fluffy was standing on our porch! Dad could not believe it and said to us :” I buried him on Friday! It turned out that Fluffy had just been knocked out cold, so he got up from the dead and was waiting for us to come home.”
2. The poetic return:
“My parents were newly married in New Jersey and moved to Illinois after I was born. They spent all my childhood there, and then annulment in the year of my graduation. My father moved to Las Vegas, my mother to Texas. When I turned 30, I took a job in South Florida — the first and only member of my family to travel there. While looking for interior items at a local shopkeeper, I found an old book of poems on a shelf with kitchen utensils, and I liked the look of the cover, so I bought it for a quarter and brought home the rest of my things. after that night, I opened the blanket and was shocked to see an inscription in my father’s inimitable handwriting. It was her gift to my mother for her third wedding anniversary. My mother had sold it at a flea market about 10 years earlier. Both have since confirmed it.”
3. The haunted apartment:
“I had lunch with a new colleague once, and he told me about his apartment and how haunted it was. He did not tell me where it was, but the haunting seemed familiar to me — like an apartment in which I had once lived. I told him the address, and it turned as white as a sheet. He lived in the same haunted apartment! When I told him some details that only he could know, he panicked and left the scene this week.”
4. The Killer Nurse:
“My father had a heart strike many years ago and I came to the hospital at 3 a.m., given the time and the fact that he was in the intensive care unit, I was not allowed to enter at first. However, eventually I was taken in by a nurse who calmed me down and allowed me to see my father. He was so kind to our family throughout my father’s hospital stay. About six months after, my paternal grandmother was in the intensive care unit because of a medical problem, and again we were taken care of by this nurse. About a year after, I received a call from my father telling me to turn on CNN. It turned out that the nurse was Charles Cullen, who confessed to executing up to 40 patients.”
5. The unfortunate gentleman:
“A few years ago I was broke and spent my last two dollars on ramen in a store to get through payday. The lottery was high, so I decided to literally spend my last 2 dollars on a ticket. Well, this little old lady stepped behind me, and since the store was full, I let her pass me in the queue. She bought a quick pick lottery ticket. I then bought my lottery ticket and my ramen and went home. A few days after, I saw her on the news: she was the only winner of a million jackpot. If I hadn’t left them in front of me, I would have bought this ticket and would be a millionaire by now.”
